Climbing Eros<\/a><\/em>\u00a0takes place on a Greek island in the Saronic Gulf. The short documentary explores the stages of pilgrimage through the eyes of director\u00a0Charles M Pepiton<\/a>\u00a0and his young son who walk the island\u2014from the deserted lighthouse on one end to the peak of Mt. Eros\u2014whilst artist\u00a0Rebekah Wilkins-Pepiton<\/a>\u00a0collects botanicals to create inks for painting. Each finds a means to reconcile with loss and return to the earth and to themselves. The film features two meditations written for the film by\u00a0Damon Falke<\/a>\u2014one of confession, one of returning to materiality\u2014that knit the threads of hiking and gathering around Jean-Luc Marion\u2019s notion that \u201cLoving requires distance and the crossing of distance<\/a>.\u201d The series of images in this gallery were created during the filming as a part of the project.
